This policy explains what personal data thriftyskillet.com collects, why it is collected, and what you can do about it. The website address is https://thriftyskillet.com.
Who to contact
For any privacy question or request, email contact@thriftyskillet.com or use the contact form.
Comments and recipe ratings
When you leave a comment or a star rating, the site stores the name, email address and comment you enter, plus your IP address and browser user agent to help detect spam. Your email address is never published. Comments from first-time commenters are held for approval.
An anonymized string created from your email address (a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to check whether you use a Gravatar profile picture. Gravatar’s privacy policy is available at automattic.com/privacy.
Contact form
Messages sent through the contact form (your name, email address, subject and message) are delivered by email so they can be answered. They are not added to any mailing list.
Email newsletter
If you subscribe, you consent to receive marketing communications from The Thrifty Skillet. Your email address is stored with the email service provided by our web host, Hostinger (Hostinger Reach), and is used solely to send newsletters and promotional content. It is never sold. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored in your browser. WordPress sets cookies if you leave a comment (to remember your name and email, if you choose) and when administrators log in. Advertising and analytics cookies, described below, are only set according to the choices you make in the cookie consent banner where consent is required.
Advertising (Google AdSense)
This site uses Google AdSense to display ads. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info (or youronlinechoices.eu in Europe).
- Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are asked for consent before personalized ads or advertising cookies are used. If you decline, Google may still show non-personalized ads, which use cookies only for purposes such as frequency capping, fraud detection and aggregated reporting.
Affiliate links
Some links on this site are affiliate links. When you click one, the retailer may set a cookie to record that the visit came from this site so a commission can be credited if you make a purchase. See the Disclaimer for more information.
Analytics
The site may use Google Analytics, connected through Google Site Kit, to understand which recipes are read and how visitors find them. Google Analytics collects information such as pages visited, approximate location, device and browser. See Google’s privacy policy.
Social sharing buttons
The share buttons on recipes are simple links. No data is sent to a social network unless you click a button, at which point that network’s own privacy policy applies.
Embedded content
Recipes may include embedded content such as videos. Embedded content behaves as if you had visited the other website, which may collect data about you and use cookies.
Hosting, security and backups
The site is hosted by Hostinger. Server logs and security tools process IP addresses to protect the site from spam, brute-force login attempts and other attacks. Backups of the site, which may contain comments and form data, are kept for a limited time so the site can be restored.
How long data is kept
Approved comments and ratings are kept for as long as the recipe is published. Contact messages are kept only as long as needed to answer them. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe.
Children’s privacy
This site is intended for a general adult audience and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and it will be deleted.
Your rights
You can ask to receive a copy of the personal data this site holds about you, or ask for it to be corrected or erased (except data that must be kept for administrative, legal or security reasons). Send requests to contact@thriftyskillet.com.
Changes to this policy
This policy will be updated when the way the site handles data changes. The date at the top shows the latest revision.
