Ingredients

  • 1 lb store-bought ravioli such as spinach and ricotta
  • 3 cups jarred marinara sauce
  • 3 cups grated mozzarella cheese
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil for greasing the dish
  • salt to taste
  • black pepper to taste

Equipment

  • 1 9x13 inch baking dish
  • 1 measuring cups
  • 1 measuring spoons
  • 1 aluminum foil

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with olive oil.
  2. Spread about 1/2 cup of the marinara sauce evenly across the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  3. Arrange approximately one-third of the ravioli in a single layer over the sauce, trying to minimize large gaps.
  4. Sprinkle a handful of grated mozzarella cheese over the ravioli, then top with about 1 cup of marinara sauce, spreading it gently.
  5. Repeat with another layer of ravioli, a handful of cheese, and another cup of marinara sauce.
  6. Finish with the remaining ravioli, the last cup of marinara sauce, and generously cover the top with the remaining mozzarella cheese.
  7. Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 40 minutes.
  8. Carefully remove the foil and continue baking for another 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly, and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  9. Let the lasagna rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving to allow the layers to set.

Notes

Make Ahead: Assemble the lasagna up to 24 hours in advance and refrigerate. Add 10-15 minutes to the covered baking time if baking from cold.
Freezing: Leftovers freeze well for up to 2-3 months in airtight containers. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating.
Customization: Feel free to add cooked ground meat, sauteed vegetables like spinach or mushrooms, or a sprinkle of fresh herbs to your marinara layers.
